Haftarah Shabbat Shekalim
2 Melachim 11:17 - 11:20 ; 12:1 - 12:17

~Maftir for this Parsha is from Parashat Ki Tisa, Shemot 30:11 - 30:16~

11:17 Vayichrot Yehoiada et-habrit bein HASHEM uvein hamelech uvein ha'am lihyot le'am l'HASHEM uvein hamelech uvein ha'am.
Then Yehoiada made a covenant between HASHEM, the king, and the people, that they should be HASHEM's people, and also between the king and the people.

18 Vayavo'u chol-am ha'aretz beit-haba'al vayitetzuhu et-mizbechotav ve'et-tzlamav shibru heitev ve'et matan kohen haba'al hargu lifnei hamizbechot vayasem hakohen pekudot al-beit HASHEM.
And all the people of the land went to the temple of Baal, and tore it down. They thoroughly broke in pieces its altars and images, and killed Matan the priest of Baal before the altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of HASHEM.

19 Vayikach et-sarei hame'ot ve'et-hakari ve'et-haratzim ve'et kol-am ha'aretz vayoridu et-hamelech mibeit HASHEM vayavo'u derech-sha'ar haratzim beit hamelech vayeshev al-kise hamelachim.
Then he took the captains of hundreds, the bodyguards, the escorts, and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of HASHEM, and went by way of the gate of the escorts to the king's house. Then he sat on the throne of the kings.

20 Vayismach kol-am-ha'aretz veha'ir shakatah ve'et-Atalyahu hemitu vacherev beit hamelech.
So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet, for they had slain Atalyahu with the sword in the king's house.

12:1 Ben-sheva shanim Yeho'ash bemalcho.
Yehoash was seven years old when he became king.

2 Bishnat-sheva le-Yehu malach Yeho'ash ve'arba'im shanah malach biYerushalayim veshem imo Tzivyah miBe'er Shava.
In the seventh year of Yehu, Yehoash became king, and he reigned forty years in Yerushalayim. His mother's name was Tzivyah of Beer Sheva.

3 Vaya'as Yeho'ash hayashar be'eynei HASHEM kol-yamav asher horahu Yehoiada hakohen.
Yeho'ash did what was right in the sight of HASHEM all the days in which Yehoiada the priest instructed him.

4 Rak habamot lo-saru od ha'am mezabechim umekatrim babamot.
But the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burned incense on the high places.

5 Vayomer Yeho'ash el-hakohanim kol-kesef hakodashim asher yuva veit-HASHEM kesef over ish kesef nafshot erko kol-kesef asher ya'aleh al lev-ish lehavi beit HASHEM.
And Yehoash said to the priests, "All the money of the dedicated gifts that are brought into the house of HASHEM--each man's census money, each man's assessment money--and all the money that a man purposes in his heart to bring into the house of HASHEM,

6 Yikchu lahem hakohanim ish me'et makaro vehem yechazku et-bedek habayit lechol asher-yimatse sham badek.
let the priests take it themselves, each from his constituency; and let them repair the damages of the temple, wherever any dilapidation is found."

7 Vayehi bishnat esrim veshalosh shanah lamelech Yeho'ash lo-chizku hakohanim et-bedek habayit.
Now it was so, by the twenty-third year of King Yehoash, that the priests had not repaired the damages of the temple.

8 Vayikra hamelech Yeho'ash li-Yehoiada hakohen velakohanim vayomer alehem madua eInchem mechazkim et-bedek habayit ve'atah al-tikchu-chesef me'et makareIchem ki-levedek habayit titnuhu.
So King Yehoash called Yehoiada the priest and the other priests, and said to them, "Why have you not repaired the damages of the temple? Now therefore, do not take more money from your constituency, but deliver it for repairing the damages of the temple."

9 Vaye'oto hakohanim levilti kechat-kesef me'et ha'am ulevilti chazek et-bedek habayit.
And the priests agreed that they would neither receive more money from the people, nor repair the damages of the temple.

10 Vayikach Yehoiada hakohen aron echad vayikov chor bedalto vayiten oto etzel hamizbe'ach miyamin bevo-ish beit HASHEM venatnu-shamah hakohanim shomrei hasaf et-kol-hakesef hamuva veit-HASHEM.
Then Yehoiada the priest took a chest, bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comes into the house of HASHEM; and the priests who kept the door put there all the money brought into the house of HASHEM.

11 Vayehi kir'otam ki-rav hakesef ba'aron vaya'al sofer hamelech vehakohen hagadol vayatsuru vayimnu et-hakesef hanimtza veit-HASHEM.
So it was, whenever they saw that there was much money in the chest, that the king's scribe and the high priest came up and put it in bags, and counted the money that was found in the house of HASHEM.

12 Venatnu et-hakesef hametukan al-yedei osei hamelachah hamufkadim beit HASHEM vayotzi'uhu lecharashei ha'etz velabonim ha'osim beit HASHEM.
Then they gave the money, which had been apportioned, into the hands of those who did the work, who had the oversight of the house of HASHEM; and they paid it out to the carpenters and builders who worked on the house of HASHEM,

13 Velagodrim ulechotzvey ha'even veliknot etzim ve'avney machtzev lechazek et-bedek beit-HASHEM ulechol asher-yetze al-habayit lechazkah.
and to masons and stonecutters, and for buying timber and hewn stone, to repair the damage of the house of HASHEM, and for all that was paid out to repair the temple.

14 Ach lo ye'aseh beit HASHEM sipot kesef mezamrot mizrakot chatzotzrot kol-keli zahav ucheli-chasef min-hakesef hamuva veit-HASHEM.
However there were not made for the house of HASHEM basins of silver, trimmers, sprinkling-bowls, trumpets, any articles of gold or articles of silver, from the money brought into the house of HASHEM.

15 Ki-le'osei hamelachah yitnuhu vechizku-vo et-beit HASHEM.
But they gave that to the workmen, and they repaired the house of HASHEM with it.

16 Velo yechashvu et-ha'anashim asher yitnu et-hakesef al-yadam latet le'osei hamelachah ki ve'emunah hem osim.
Moreover they did not require an account from the men into whose hand they delivered the money to be paid to workmen, for they dealt faithfully.

17 Kesef asham vechesef chata'ot lo yuva beit HASHEM lakohanim yihyu.
The money from the trespass offerings and the money from the sin offerings was not brought into the house of HASHEM. It belonged to the priests.

Haftarah Shabbat Zachor
1 Shmuel 15:1 - 15:34

~Maftir for Parashat Zachor, Devarim 25:17 - 25:19 ~

15:1 Vayomer Shmuel el-Shaul oti shalach HASHEM limshachacha lemelech al-amo al-Yisrael ve'atah shma lekol divrei HASHEM.
Shmuel also said to Shaul, "HASHEM sent me to anoint you king over His people, over Yisrael. Now therefore, heed the voice of the words of HASHEM.

2 Koh amar HASHEM Tzeva'ot pakadeti et-asher asah Amalek le-Yisrael asher-sam lo baderech ba'aloto miMitzrayim.
"Thus says HASHEM of hosts: 'I will punish Amalek for what he did to Yisrael, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt.

3 Atah lech vehikitah et-Amalek vehacharamtem et-kol-asher-lo velo tachmol alav vehematah me'ish ad-ishah me'olel ve'ad-yonek mishor ve'ad-seh migamal ve'ad-chamor.
Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.'"

4 Vayeshama Shaul et-ha'am vayifkedem batla'im matayim elef ragli va'aseret alafim et-ish Yehudah.
So Shaul gathered the people together and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand foot soldiers and ten thousand men of Yehudah.

5 Vayavo Shaul ad-ir Amalek vayarev banachal.
And Shaul came to a city of Amalek, and lay in wait in the valley.

6 Vayomer Shaul el-haKeyni lechu suru redu mitoch Amaleki pen-osifecha imo ve'atah asitah chesed im-kol-benei Yisrael ba'alotam miMitzrayim vayasar Keyni mitoch Amalek.
Then Shaul said to the Keyni, "Go, depart, get down from among the Amaleki, lest I destroy you with them. For you showed kindness to all the children of Yisrael when they came up out of Egypt." So the Keyni departed from among the Amaleki.

7 Vayach Shaul et-Amalek meChavilah bo'acha Shur asher al-penei Mitzrayim.
And Sha'ul attacked the Amaleki, from Chavilah all the way to Shur, which is east of Egypt.

8 Vayitpos et-Agag melech-Amalek chai ve'et-kol-ha'am hecherim lefi-charev.
He also took Agag king of the Amaleki alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.

9 Vayachmol Shaul veha'am al-Agag ve'al-meitav hatzon vehabakar vehamishnim ve'al-hakarim ve'al-kol-hatov velo avu hacharimam vechol-hamelachah nemivezah venames otah hecherimu.
But Sha'ul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.

10 Vayehi devar HASHEM el-Shmuel lemor.
Now the word of HASHEM came to Shmuel, saying,

11 Nichamti ki-himlachti et-Shaul lemelech ki-shav me'acharai ve'et-devaray lo hekim vayichar li-Shmuel vayiz'ak el-HASHEM kol-halailah.
I greatly regret that I have set up Shaul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments." And it grieved Shmuel, and he cried out to HASHEM all night.

12 Vayashkem Shmuel likrat Shaul baboker vayugad li-Shmuel lemor ba-Shaul haKarmelah vehineh matziv lo yad vayisov vaya'avor vayered haGilgal.
So when Shmuel rose early in the morning to meet Shaul, it was told Shmuel, saying, "Shaul went to Karmelah, and indeed, he set up a monument for himself; and he has gone on around, passed by, and gone down to Gilgal."

13 Vayavo Shmuel el-Shaul vayomer lo Shaul baruch atah l'HASHEM hakimoti et-davar HASHEM.
Then Shmuel went to Shaul, and Shaul said to him, "Blessed are you of HASHEM! I have performed the commandment of HASHEM.'

14 Vayomer Shmuel umeh kol-hatzon hazeh be'oznay vekol habakar asher anochi shomea.
But Shmuel said, "What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?"

15 Vayomer Shaul me'Amaleki hevi'um asher chamal ha'am al-meitav hatson vehabakar lema'an zevo'ach l'HASHEM Elokeicha ve'et-hayoter hecheramnu.
And Shaul said, "They have brought them from the Amaleki; for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to HASHEM your G-d; and the rest we have utterly destroyed."

16 Vayomer Shmuel el-Shaul heref ve'agidah lecha et asher diber HASHEM elai halailah vayomer lo daber.
Then Shmuel said to Shaul, "Be quiet! And I will tell you what HASHEM said to me last night." And he said to him, "Speak on."

17 Vayomer Shmuel halo im-katon atah be'eyneIcha rosh shivteI Yisrael atah vayimshachacha HASHEM lemelech al-Yisrael.
So Shmuel said, "When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Yisrael? And did not HASHEM anoint you king over Yisrael?

18 Vayishlachacha HASHEM bedarech vayomer lech vehacharamtah et-hachata'im et-Amalek venilchamta vo ad-kalotam otam.
Now HASHEM sent you on a mission, and said, 'Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amaleki, and fight against them until they are consumed.'

19 Velamah lo-shamata bekol HASHEM vata'at el-hashalal vata'as hara be'eynei HASHEM.
Why then did you not obey the voice of HASHEM? Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of HASHEM?'

20 Vayomer Shaul el-Shmuel asher shamati bekol HASHEM va'elech baderech asher-shlachani HASHEM va'avi et-Agag melech Amalek ve'et-Amalek hecheramti.
And Shaul said to Shmuel, "But I have obeyed the voice of HASHEM, and gone on the mission on which HASHEM sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amaleki.

21 Vayikach ha'am mehashalal tzon uvakar reshit hacherem lizbo'ach l'HASHEM Elokeicha baGilgal.
But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to HASHEM your G-d in Gilgal."

22 Vayomer Shmuel hachefetz l'HASHEM be'olot uzvachim kishmoa bekol HASHEM hineh shemoa mizevach tov lehakshiv mechelev eilim.
Then Shmuel said: "Has HASHEM as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of HASHEM? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.

23 Ki chatat-kesem meri ve'aven utrafim haftzar ya'an ma'asta et-devar HASHEM vayim'asecha mimelech.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of HASHEM, He also has rejected you from being king."

24 Vayomer Shaul el-Shmuel chatati ki-avarti et-pi-HASHEM ve'et-devareicha ki yareti et-ha'am va'eshma bekolam.
Then Shaul said to Shmuel, "I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of HASHEM and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.

25 Ve'atah sa na et-chatati veshuv imi ve'eshtachaveh l'HASHEM.
Now therefore, please pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship HASHEM.'

26 Vayomer Shmuel el-Shaul lo ashuv imach ki ma'astah et-devar HASHEM vayim'asecha HASHEM miheyot melech al-Yisrael.
But Shmuel said to Shaul, "I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of HASHEM, and HASHEM has rejected you from being king over Yisrael."

27 Vayisov Shmuel lalechet vayachazek bichnaf-me'ilo vayikara.
And as Shmuel turned around to go away, Shaul seized the edge of his robe, and it tore.

28 Vayomer elav Shmuel kara HASHEM et-mamlechut Yisrael me'aleycha hayom unetanah lere'acha hatov mimeka.
28 So Shmuel said to him, "HASHEM has torn the kingdom of Yisrael from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you.

29 Vegam netzach Yisrael lo yeshaker velo yinachem ki lo adam hu lehinachem.
And also the Strength of Yisrael will not lie nor relent. For He is not a man, that He should relent."

30 Vayomer chatati atah kabedeni na neged ziknei-ami veneged Yisrael veshuv imi vehishtachaveyti l'HASHEM Elokeicha.
Then he said, "I have sinned; yet honor me now, please, before the elders of my people and before Yisrael, and return with me, that I may worship HASHEM your G-d."

31 Vayashov Shmuel acharei Shaul vayishtachu Shaul l'HASHEM.
So Shmuel turned back after Shaul, and Shaul worshiped HASHEM.

32 Vayomer Shmuel hagishu elai et-Agag melech Amalek vayelech elav Agag ma'adanot vayomer Agag achen sar mor-hamavet.
Then Shamuel said, "Bring Agag king of the Amaleki here to me." So Agag came to him cautiously. And Agag said, "Surely the bitterness of death is past."

33 Vayomer Shmuel ka'asher siklah nashim charbecha ken-tishkal minashim imecha vayeshasef Shmuel et-Agag lifnei HASHEM baGilgal.
But Shmuel said, "As your sword has made women childless, so shall your mother be childless among women." And Shmuel hacked Agag in pieces before HASHEM in Gilgal.

34 Vayelech Shmuel haRamatah veShaul alah el-beito Giv'at Shaul.
Then Shmuel went to Ramatah, and Shaul went up to his house at Givat of Shaul.

Haftarah Shabbat Parah
Yechezkel 36:16 - 36:38

~Maftir for Parashat Parah, BaMidbar 19:1 - 19:22 ~

36:16 Vayehi dvar-HASHEM elai lemor.
Moreover the word of HASHEM came to me, saying:

17 Ben-adam beit Yisrael yoshvim al-admatam vayetam'u otah bedarkam uva'alilotam ketum'at hanidah hayetah darkam lefanai.
"Son of man, when the house of Yisrael dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity.

18 Va'eshpoch chamati aleihem al-hadam asher-shafechu al-ha'aretz uvegiluleihem tim'uha.
Therefore I poured out My fury on them for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it.

19 Va'afis otam bagoyim vayizaru ba'aratzot kedarkam vecha'alilotam shfatetim.
So I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them according to their ways and their deeds.

20 Vayavo el-hagoyim asher-ba'u sham vayechalelu et-shem kodshi be'emor lahem am-HASHEM eleh ume'artzo yatza'u.
When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name--when they said of them, 'These are the people of HASHEM, and yet they have gone out of His land.'

21 Va'echmol al-shem kodshi asher chileluhu beit Yisrael bagoyim asher-ba'u shamah.
But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Yisrael had profaned among the nations wherever they went.

22 Lachen emor leveit-Yisrael koh amar HASHEM Elokim lo lema'anchem ani oseh beit Yisrael ki im-leshem-kodshi asher chilaltem bagoyim asher-batem sham.
Therefore say to the house of Yisrael, 'Thus says HASHEM G-d: "I do not do this for your sake, O house of Yisrael, but for My holy name's sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.

23 Vekidashti et-shemi hagadol hamechulal bagoyim asher chilaltem betocham vayad'u hagoyim ki-ani Elokim ne'um HASHEM Elokim behikadshi vachem le'eyneihem.
And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am HASHEM, ' says HASHEM Elokim, "when I am hallowed in you before their eyes.

24 Velakachti etchem min-hagoyim vekibatzti etchem mikol-ha'aratzot veheveti etchem el-admatchem.
For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land.

25 Vezarakti aleichem mayim tehorim utehartem mikol tum'oteichem umikol-giluleichem ataher etchem.
Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.

26 Venatati lachem lev chadash veruach chadashah eten bekirbechem vahasiroti et-lev ha'even mibsarchem venatati lachem lev basar.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

27 Ve'et-ruchi eten bekirbechem ve'asiti et asher-bechukay telechu umishpatai tishmeru va'asitem.
I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

28 Vishavtem ba'aretz asher natati la'avoteichem viheyitem li le'am ve'anochi eheyeh lachem le'Elokim.
Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your G-d.

29 Vehoshati etchem mikol tum'oteichem vekarati el-hadagan vehirbeiti oto velo-eten aleichem ra'av.
I will deliver you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and multiply it, and bring no famine upon you.

30 Vehirbeiti et-pri ha'etz utnuvat hasadeh lema'an asher lo tikchu od cherpat ra'av bagoyim.
And I will multiply the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so that you need never again bear the reproach of famine among the nations.

31 Uzechartem et-darcheichem hara'im uma'aleleichem asher lo-tuvim unekototem bifneichem al avonoteichem ve'al to'avoteichem.
Then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight, for your iniquities and your abominations.

32 Lo lema'anchem ani-oseh ne'um HASHEM Elokim yivada lachem boshu vehikalmu midarcheichem beit Yisrael.
Not for your sake do I do this," says HASHEM G-d, "let it be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Yisrael!"

33 Koh amar HASHEM Elokim beyom tahari etchem mikol avonoteichem vehoshavti et-he'arim venivnu hecharavot.
'Thus says HASHEM G-d: "On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will also enable you to dwell in the cities, and the ruins shall be rebuilt.

34 Veha'aretz haneshamah te'aved tachat asher hayetah shmamah le'einei kol-over.
The desolate land shall be tilled instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who pass by.

35 Ve'amru ha'aretz halezu haneshamah hayetah keGan-Eden vehe'arim hecharevot vehaneshamot vehaneherasot betzurot yashavu.
So they will say, 'This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the wasted, desolate, and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.'

36 Veyad'u hagoyim asher yisha'aru svivoteichem ki ani HASHEM baniti haneherasot natati haneshamah ani HASHEM dibarti ve'asiti.
Then the nations which are left all around you shall know that I, HASHEM, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I, HASHEM, have spoken it, and I will do it."

37 Koh amar HASHEM Elokim od zot idaresh leveit-Yisrael la'asot lahem arbeh otam katson adam.
'Thus says HASHEM G-d: "I will also let the house of Yisrael inquire of Me to do this for them: I will increase their men like a flock.

38 Ketzon Yerushalayim bemo'adeiha ken tiheyeinah he'arim hecharevot mele'ot tzon adam veyad'u ki-ani HASHEM.
Like a flock offered as holy sacrifices, like the flock at Yerushalayim on its feast days, so shall the ruined cities be filled with flocks of men. Then they shall know that I am HASHEM.''"

Haftarah Shabbat HaChodesh
Yechezk'el 45:16 - 45:25 ; 46:1 - 46:18

~Maftir Shemot 12:1 - 12:20) ~

45:16 Kol ha'am ha'aretz yihyu el-hatrumah hazot lanasi beYisrael.
"All the people of the land shall give this offering for the prince in Yisrael.

Then it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings, at the feasts, the New Moons, the Sabbaths, and at all the appointed seasons of the house of Yisrael. He shall prepare the sin offering, the grain offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings to make atonement for the house of Yisrael."

18 Koh-amar HASHEM Elokim barishon be'echad lachodesh tikach par-ben-bakar tamim vechiteta et-hamikdash.
Thus says HASHEM G-d: "In the first month, on the first day of the month, you shall take a young bull without blemish and cleanse the sanctuary.

19 Velakach hakohen midam hachatat venatan el-mezuzat habayit ve'el-arba pinot ha'azarah lamizbe'ach ve'al-mezuzat sha'ar hechatzer hapnimit.
The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering and put it on the doorposts of the temple, on the four corners of the ledge of the altar, and on the gateposts of the gate of the inner court.

20 Vechen ta'aseh besiv'ah vachodesh me'ish shogeh umipeti vechipartem et-habayit.
And so you shall do on the seventh day of the month for everyone who has sinned unintentionally or in ignorance. Thus you shall make atonement for the temple.

21 Barishon be'arba'ah asar yom lachodesh yihyeh lachem hapasach chag shevu'ot yamim matzot ye'achel.
In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month, you shall observe the Passover, a feast of seven days; unleavened bread shall be eaten.

22 Ve'asah hanasi bayom hahu ba'ado uve'ad kol-am ha'aretz par chatat.
And on that day the prince shall prepare for himself and for all the people of the land a bull for a sin offering.

23 Veshiv'at yemei-hechag ya'aseh olah l'HASHEM shiv'at parim veshiv'at eilim tmimim layom shiv'at hayamim vechatat se'ir izim layom.
On the seven days of the feast he shall prepare a burnt offering to HASHEM, seven bulls and seven rams without blemish, daily for seven days, and a kid of the goats daily for a sin offering.
