Shemot 11:1 - 15:27
11:1 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe od nega echad avi al-Par'oh ve'al-Mitzrayim acharei-chen yeshalach etchem mizeh keshalecho kalah garesh yegaresh etkhem mizeh.
And HASHEM said to Moshe, Yet, I will bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go from here: when he shall let you go, he shall drive you out altogether from here:
2 Daber-na be'oznei ha'am veyish'alu ish me'et re'ehu ve'ishah me'et re'utah klei-chesef uchelei-zahav.
Speak now in the ears of the people, and let every man ask of his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, vessels of silver and vessels of gold.
3 Vayiten HASHEM et-chen ha'am be'einei Mitzrayim gam ha'ish mosheh gadol me'od be'eretz Mitzrayim be'einei avdei-Par'oh uve'einei ha'am.
And HASHEM gave the people favor in the sight of Egypt; moreover the man Moshe was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.
Revi'i
4 Vayomer Moshe koh amar HASHEM kachatzot halailah ani yotze betoch Mitzrayim.
And Moshe said, Thus says HASHEM, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:
5 Umet kol-bechor be'eretz Mitzrayim mibechor Par'oh hayoshev al-kis'o ad bechor hashifchah asher achar harechayim vechol bechor behemah.
and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beast.
6 Vehayetah tze'akah gedolah bechol-eretz Mitzrayim asher kamohu lo nihyatah vechamohu lo tosif.
And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.
7 Ulechol benei Yisrael lo yecheratz-kelev leshono leme'ish ve'ad-behemah lema'an ted'un asher yafleh HASHEM bein Mitzrayim uvein Yisrael.
But against any of the children of Yisrael not a dog shall move its tongue, neither against man or beast: that you may know that HASHEM does differentiates between Egypt and Yisrael.
8 Veyardu chol-avadeicha eleh elai vehishtachavu-li lemor tze atah vechol-ha'am asher-beragleicha ve'acharei-chen etze vayetze me'im-Par'oh bochori-af.
And all these your servants shall come down to me, and bow down themselves to me, saying, Leave, and all the people that follow you: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in great anger.
9 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe lo-yishma aleychem Par'oh lema'an revot mofetai be'eretz Mitzrayim.
And HASHEM said to Moshe, Pharaoh shall not heed you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.
10 UMoshe ve'Aharon asu et-kol-hamoftim ha'eleh lifnei Par'oh vayechazek HASHEM et-lev Par'oh velo-shilach et-benei-Yisrael me'artzo.
And Moshe and Aharon did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and HASHEM hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not send out the children of Yisrael from his land.
The Pesach Offering
Chamishi
12:1 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe ve'el-Aharon be'eretz Mitzrayim lemor.
And HASHEM spoke to Moshe and Aharon in the land of Egypt, saying,
2 Hachodesh hazeh lachem rosh chodashim rishon hu lachem lechodeshei hashanah.
This month shall be for you the beginning of the months: it shall be for you the first of the month of the year.
3 Daberu el-kol-adat Yisrael lemor be'asor lachodesh hazeh veyikchu lahem ish seh leveit-avot seh labayit.
Speak to the entire assembly of Yisrael, saying, On the tenth of this month they shall take for themselves each man, a lamb or kid for each father's house, a lamb or kid for the household.
4 Ve'im-yim'at habayit miheyot miseh velakach hu ushcheno hakarov el-beito bemikhsat nefashot ish lefi ochlo tachosu al-haseh.
And if the household be too small for a lamb or kid, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the souls; according to every man's eating shall you make your count for the lamb.
5 Seh tamim zachar ben-shanah yihyeh lachem min-hakvasim umin-ha'izim tikachu.
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: you shall take it from the sheep, or from the goats:
6 Vehayah lachem lemishmeret ad arba'ah asar yom lachodesh hazeh veshachatu oto kol kehal adat-Yisrael bein ha'arba'im.
and it shall be yours for examination until the fourteenth day of this month; the entire congregation of the assembly of Yisrael shall slaughter it in the afternoon.
7 Velakechu min-hadam venatenu al-shtei hamezuzot ve'al-hamashkof al habatim asher-yochlu oto bahem.
And they shall take some of its blood and place it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they will eat it.
8 Ve'achlu et-habasar balaylah hazeh tzli-esh umatzot al-merorim yocheluhu.
And they shall eat the flesh on that night, roasted over the fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs shall they eat it.
9 Al-tochlu mimenu na uvashel mevushal bamayim ki im-tzli-esh rosho al-kra'av ve'al-kirbo.
You shall not eat it partially roasted or cooked in water, only roasted over fire: its head, its legs, and with its innards.
10 Velo-totiru mimenu ad-boker vehanotar mimenu ad-boker ba'esh tisrofu.
And you shall not leave any of it until morning; and that which remains of it until the morning you shall burn with fire.
11 Vechachah tokhlu oto motneichem chagurim na'aleichem beragleichem umakelchem beyedchem va'achaltem oto bechipazon pesach hu l'HASHEM.
And thus shall you eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in haste; it is a Pesach offering to HASHEM.
12 Ve'avarti ve'eretz-Mitzrayim balailah hazeh vehikeiti chol-bechor be'eretz Mitzrayim me'adam ve'ad-behemah uvechol-elohei Mitzrayim e'eseh shfatim ani HASHEM.
I shall pass through the land of Egypt on this night, and I shall strike every firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast: and against all the gods of Egypt I shall mete out judgment: I am HASHEM.
13 Vehayah hadam lachem le'ot al habatim asher atem sham vera'iti et-hadam ufasachti alechem velo-yihyeh vachem negef lemashchit behakoti be'eretz Mitzrayim.
And the blood shall be a sign for you upon the houses where you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.
14 Vehayah hayom hazeh lachem lezikaron vechagotem oto chag l'HASHEM ledoroteichem chukat olam techaguhu.
And this day shall be a remembrance for you; and you shall celebrate it as a festival for HASHEM; for your generations, as an eternal decree shall you celebrate it.
15 Shiv'at yamim matzot tochelu ach bayom harishon tashbitu se'or mibateichem ki kol-ochel chametz venichretah hanefesh hahi miYisrael miyom harishon ad-yom hashvi'i.
Seven days shall you eat unleavened bread; but on the first day you shall have put away leaven out of your houses: for whoever eats leavened food from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Yisrael.
16 Uvayom harishon mikra-kodesh uvayom hashvi'i mikra-kodesh yihyeh lachem kol-melachah lo-ye'aseh vahem ach asher ye'achel lechol-nefesh hu levado ye'aseh lachem.
And on the first day there shall be a holy convocation, and on the seventh day there shall be a holy convocation for you; no manner of work shall be done on them, except that which every person must eat, only that may be done for you.
17 Ushmartem et-hamatzot ki be'etzem hayom hazeh hotzeti et-tziv'oteichem me'eretz Mitzrayim ushmartem et-hayom hazeh ledoroteichem chukat olam.
And you shall safeguard the unleavened bread; for on this very day have I will have brought your legions out of the land of Egypt: you shall observe this day for your generations as an eternal decree.
18 Barishon be'arba'ah asar yom lachodesh ba'erev tochelu matzot ad yom ha'echad ve'esrim lachodesh ba'arev.
In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the evening shall you eat unleavened bread, until the twenty first day of the month in the evening.
19 Shiv'at yamim se'or lo yimatze bevateichem ki kol-ochel machmetzet venichretah nahefesh hahi me'adat Yisrael bager uve'ezrach ha'aretz.
Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whoever eats that which is leavened, that soul shall be cut off from the assembly of Yisrael, whether he a convert, or a native of the land.
20 Kol-machmetzet lo tochelu bechol moshvoteichem tochelu matzot.
You shall eat nothing leavened; in all your dwellings shall you eat unleavened bread.
21 Vayikra Moshe lechol-ziknei Yisrael vayomer alehem mishchu ukchu lachem tzon lemishpechoteichem veshachatu haPesach.
And Moshe called to all the elders of Yisrael and said to them, Draw forth or buy for yourselves one of the flock for your families, and slaughter the Passover offering.
22 Ulekachtem agudat ezov utvaltem badam asher-basaf vehigatem el-hamashkof ve'el-shtei hamezuzot min-hadam asher basaf ve'atem lo tetz'u ish mipetach-beito ad-boker.
You shall take a bundle of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with some of the blood that is in the basin, and none of you shall go out the entrance of his house until morning.
23 Ve'avar HASHEM lingof et-Mitzrayim vera'ah et-hadam al-hamashkof ve'al shtey hamezuzot ufasach HASHEM al-hapetach velo yiten hamashchit lavo el-bateychem lingof.
For HASHEM will pass through to strike the Egypt; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, HASHEM will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you.
24 Ushmartem et-hadavar hazeh lechok-lecha ulevaneicha ad-olam.
And you shall observe this thing as an ordinance for you and your sons forever.
25 Vehayah ki-tavo'u el-ha'aretz asher yiten HASHEM lachem ka'asher diber ushmartem et-ha'avodah hazot.
It will come to pass when you come to the land which HASHEM will give you, just as He promised, that you shall keep this service.
26 Vehayah ki-yomru aleychem beneychem mah ha'avodah hazot lachem.
And it shall be, when your children say to you, 'What do you mean by this service?'
27 Va'amartem zevach-pesach hu l'HASHEM asher pesach al-batei venei-Yisrael beMitzrayim benogpo et-Mitzrayim ve'et-bateynu hitsil vayikod ha'am vayishtachavu.
That you shall say, 'It is the Passover sacrifice of Hashem who passed over the houses of the children of Yisrael in Egypt when He struck the Egypt and delivered our households.'" So the people bowed their heads and worshiped.
28 Vayelchu vaya'asu benei Yisrael ka'asher tsivah HASHEM et-Moshe ve'Aharon ken asu.
Then the children of Yisrael went away and did so; just as HASHEM had commanded Moshe and Aharon, so they did.

The Tenth Plague: Death of the Firstborn
29 Vayehi bachatsi halailah va'HASHEM hikah chol-bechor be'eretz Mitzrayim mibechor Par'oh hayoshev al-kis'o ad bechor hashvi asher beveit habor vechol bechor behemah.
And it came to pass at midnight that HASHEM struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of livestock.
30 Vayakom Par'oh lailah hu vechol-avadav vechol-Mitzrayim vatehi tse'akah gedolah beMitzrayim ki-ein bayit asher ein-sham met.
So Pharaoh rose in the night, he, all his servants, and all the Egypt; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.
The Exodus
"This is the ordinance of the Pesach: No foreigner shall eat it.
31 Vayikra le-Moshe ule-Aharon lailah vayomer kumu tse'u mitoch ami gam-atem gam-benei Yisrael ulechu ivdu et-HASHEM kedaberchem.
Then he called for Moshe and Aharon by night, and said, "Rise, go out from among my people, both you and the children of Yisrael. And go, serve HASHEM as you have said.
32 Gam-tsonchem gam-bekarchem kechu ka'asher dibartem valechu uverachtem gam-oti.
Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, and be gone; and bless me also."
33 Vatechezak Mitzrayim al-ha'am lemaher leshalcham min-ha'aretz ki amru kulanu metim.
And the Egypt urged the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste. For they said, "We shall all be dead."
34 Vayisa ha'am et-betseko terem yechmatz mish'arotam tsrurot besimlotam al-shichmam.
So the people took their dough before it was leavened, having their kneading bowls bound up in their clothes on their shoulders.
35 Uvenei Yisrael asu kidevar Moshe vayish'alu miMitzrayim klei-chesef uchlei zahav usmalot.
Now the children of Yisrael had done according to the word of Moshe, and they had asked from the Egypt articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing.
36 V'HASHEM natan et-chen ha'am be'einei Mitzrayim vayash'ilum vayenatslu et-Mitzrayim.
And HASHEM had given the people favor in the sight of the Egypt, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered the Egypt.
37 Vayis'u venei Yisrael meRamses Sukkotah keshesh-me'ot elef ragli hagevarim levad mitach.
Then the children of Yisrael journeyed from Rameses to Sukkot, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children.
38 Vegam-erev rav alah itam vetson uvakar mikneh kaved me'od.
A mixed multitude went up with them also, and flocks and herds--a great deal of livestock.
39 Vayofu et-habatsek asher hotsi'u miMitzrayim ugot matzot ki lo chametz ki-gorshu miMitzrayim velo yachlu lehitmahameha vegam-tsedah lo-asu lahem.
And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they had brought out of Egypt; for it was not leavened, because they were driven out of Egypt and could not wait, nor had they prepared provisions for themselves.
40 Umoshav benei Yisrael asher yashevu beMitzrayim shloshim shanah ve'arba me'ot shanah.
Now the sojourn of the children of Yisrael who lived in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years.
41 Vayehi miketz shloshim shanah ve'arba me'ot shanah vayehi be'etzem hayom hazeh yatze'u kol-tsiv'ot HASHEM me'eretz Mitzrayim.
And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years--on that very same day--it came to pass that all the armies of HASHEM went out from the land of Egypt.
42 Leil shimurim hu l'HASHEM lehotzi'am me'eretz Mitzrayim hu-halailah hazeh l'HASHEM shimurim lechol-benei Yisrael ledorotam.
It is a night of solemn observance to HASHEM for bringing them out of the land of Egypt. This is that night of HASHEM, a solemn observance for all the children of Yisrael throughout their generations.
Pesach Regulations
43 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe ve'Aharon zot chukat haPesach kol-ben-nechar lo-yochal bo.
And HASHEM said to Moshe and Aharon,
44 Vechol-eved ish miknat-kasef umaltah oto az yochal bo.
But every man's servant who is bought for money, when you have circumcised him, then he may eat it.
45 Toshav vesachir lo-yochal bo.
A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat it.
46 Bevayit echad ye'achel lo-totzi min-habayit min-habasar chutzah ve'etzem lo-tishberu-vo.
In one house it shall be eaten; you shall not carry any of the flesh outside the house, nor shall you break one of its bones.
47 Kol-adat Yisrael ya'asu oto.
All the congregation of Yisrael shall keep it.
48 Vechi-yagur itcha ger ve'asah Pesach l'HASHEM himol lo chol-zachar ve'az yikrav la'asoto vehayah ke'ezrach ha'aretz vechol-arel lo-yochal bo.
And when a stranger dwells with you and wants to keep the Pesach to HASHEM, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it.
49 Torah achat yihyeh la'ezrach velager hagar betochechem.
One Torah shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among you."
50 Vaya'asu kol-benei Yisrael ka'asher tsivah HASHEM et-Moshe ve'et-Aharon ken asu.
Thus all the children of Yisrael did; as HASHEM commanded Moshe and Aharon, so they did.
51 Vayehi be'etzem hayom hazeh hotzi HASHEM et-benei Yisrael me'eretz Mitzrayim al-tsiv'otam.
And it came to pass, on that very same day, that HASHEM brought the children of Yisrael out of the land of Egypt according to their armies.
Shevi'i
13:1 Vayedaber HaShem el-Moshe lemor.
Then HaShem spoke to Moshe, saying,
2 Kadesh-li chol-bechor peter kol-rechem biveney-Yisra'el ba'adam uvabehemah li hu.
"Consecrate to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Yisra'el, both of man and beast; it is Mine."
Remember the Exodus
3 Vayomer Moshe el-ha'am zachor et-hayom hazeh asher yetzatem miMitzrayim mibeit avadim ki bechozek yad hotzi HASHEM etchem mizeh velo ye'achel chametz.
And Moshe said to the people: "Remember this day in which you went out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand HASHEM brought you out of this place. No leavened bread shall be eaten.
4 Hayom atem yotze'im bechodesh ha'aviv.
On this day you are going out, in the month Aviv.
5 Vehayah chi-yevi'acha HASHEM el-eretz haKenaani vehaChiti veha'Emori vehaChivi vehaYevusi asher nishba la'avoteicha latet lach eretz zavat chalav udevash ve'avadeta et-ha'avodah hazot bachodesh hazeh.
And it shall be, when HASHEM brings you into the land of the Kenaani and the Chiti and the Emori and the Chivi and the Yevusi, which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.
6 Shiv'at yamim tochal matzot uvayom hashvi'i chag l'HASHEM.
Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a festival to HASHEM.
7 Matzot ye'achel et shiv'at hayamim velo-yera'eh lecha chametz velo-yera'eh lecha se'or bechol-gvulecha.
Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days. And no leavened bread shall be seen among you, nor shall leaven be seen among you in all your quarters.
8 Vehigadeta levincha bayom hahu lemor ba'avur zeh asah HASHEM li betzeti miMitzrayim.
And you shall tell your son in that day, saying, 'This is done because of what HASHEM did for me when I came up from Egypt.'
9 Vehayah lecha le'ot al-yadcha ulezikaron bein eineicha lema'an tihyeh torat HASHEM beficha ki beyad chazakah hotzi'acha HASHEM miMitzrayim.
It shall be as a sign to you on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that HASHEM'S Torah may be in your mouth; for with a strong hand HASHEM has brought you out of Egypt.
10 Veshamarta et-hachukah hazot lemo'adah miyamim yamimah.
You shall therefore keep this ordinance in its season from year to year.
The Firstborn
11 Vehayah ki-yevi'acha HASHEM el-eretz haKenaani ka'asher nishba lecha vela'avoteicha unetanah lach.
And it shall be, when HASHEM brings you into the land of the Kenaani, as He swore to you and your fathers, and gives it to you,
12 Veha'avarta chol-peter-rechem l'HASHEM vechol-peter sheger behemah asher yihyeh lecha hazecharim l'HASHEM.
that you shall set apart to HASHEM all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be HASHEM'S.
13 Vechol-peter chamor tifdeh veseh ve'im-lo tifdeh va'arafto vechol bechor adam bevaneicha tifdeh.
But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.
Maftir
14 Vehayah ki-yish'alcha vincha machar lemor mah-zot ve'amarta elav bechozek yad hotzi'anu HASHEM miMitzrayim mibeit avadim.
So it shall be, when your son asks you in time to come, saying, 'What is this?' that you shall say to him, 'By strength of hand HASHEM brought us out of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
15 Vayehi ki-hikshah Par'oh leshalchenu vayaharog HASHEM kol-bechor be'eretz Mitzrayim mibechor adam ve'ad-bechor behemah al-ken ani zove'ach l'HASHEM kol-peter rechem hazecharim vechol-bechor banai efdeh.
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh was stubborn about letting us go, that HASHEM killed all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man and the firstborn of beast. Therefore I sacrifice to HASHEM all males that open the womb, but all the firstborn of my sons I redeem.'
16 Vehayah le'ot al-yadechah uletotafot bein eineicha ki bechozek yad hotzi'anu HASHEM miMitzrayim.
It shall be as a sign on your hand and as frontlets between your eyes, for by strength of hand HASHEM brought us out of Egypt."
Route to the Land of Yisrael
17 Vayehi beshalach Par'oh et-ha'am velo-nacham Elokim derech eretz Plishtim ki karov hu ki amar Elokim pen-yinachem ha'am bir'otam milchamah veshavu Mitzraimah.
Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that G-d did not lead them by way of the land of the Pelishtim, although that was near; for G-d said, "Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt."
18 Vayasev Elokim et-ha'am derech hamidbar yam-Suf vachamushim alu venei-Yisrael me'eretz Mitzrayim.
So G-d led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Reed Sea. And the children of Yisrael went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt.
19 Vayikach Moshe et-atsmot Yosef imo ki hashbea hishbia et-benei Yisrael lemor pakod yifkod Elokim etchem veha'alitem et-atzmotai mizeh itchem.
And Moshe took the bones of Yosef with him, for he had placed the children of Yisrael under solemn oath, saying, "G-d will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you."
20 Vayis'u miSukkot vayachanu ve'Etam biktzeh hamidbar.
So they took their journey from Sukkot and camped in Etam at the edge of the wilderness.
21 V'HASHEM holech lifneihem yomam be'amud anan lanchotam haderech velailah be'amud esh leha'ir lahem lalechet yomam valailah.
And HASHEM went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night.
22 Lo-yamish amud he'anan yomam ve'amud ha'esh lailah lifnei ha'am.
He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day or the pillar of fire by night from before the people.
Pharaoh's Change of Heart
14:1 Vayedaber HASHEM el-Moshe lemor.
Now HASHEM spoke to Moshe, saying:
2 Daber el-benei Yisrael veyashuvu veyachanu lifneI Pi haChirot bein Migdol uvein hayam lifnei Baal Tzefon nichecho tachanu al-hayam.
Speak to the children of Yisrael, that they turn and camp before Pi-haChirot, between Migdol and the sea, opposite Baal- Tzefon; you shall camp before it by the sea.
3 Ve'amar Par'oh livnei Yisrael nevuchim hem ba'aretz sagar aleihem hamidbar.
For Pharaoh will say of the children of Yisrael, 'They are bewildered by the land; the wilderness has closed them in.'
4 Vechizakti et-lev-Par'oh veradaf achareihem ve'ikavdah bePar'oh uvechol-cheilo veyad'u Mitzrayim ki-ani HASHEM vaya'asu-chen.
Then I will harden Pharaoh's heart, so that he will pursue them; and I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egypt may know that I am HASHEM. And they did so.
5 Vayugad lemelech Mitzrayim ki varach ha'am vayehafech levav Par'oh va'avadav el-ha'am vayomru mah-zot asinu ki-shilachnu et-Yisrael me'ovdenu.
Now it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled, and the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the people; and they said, "Why have we done this, that we have let Yisrael go from serving us?"
6 Vayesor et-richbo ve'et-amo lakach imo.
So he made ready his chariot and took his people with him.
7 Vayikach shesh-me'ot rechev bachur vechol rechev Mitzrayim veshalishim al-kulo.
Also, he took six hundred choice chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt with captains over every one of them.
8 Vayechazek HASHEM et-lev Par'oh melech Mitzrayim vayirdof acharei benei Yisrael uvenei Yisrael yotze'im beyad ramah.
And HASHEM hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Yisrael; and the children of Yisrael went out with boldness.
Sheni
9 Vayirdefu Mitzrayim achareihem vayasigu otam chonim al-hayam kol-sus rechev Par'oh ufarashav vecheylo al-Pi haChirot lifney Baal Tzfon.
So the Egyptians pursued them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his army, and overtook them camping by the sea beside Pi haChirot, before Baal Tzefon.
10 UPar'oh hikriv vayis'u venei-Yisrael et-eineihem vehineh Mitzrayim nosea achareihem vayir'u me'od vayitz'aku venei-Yisrael el-HASHEM.
And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Yisrael lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egypt marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Yisrael cried out to HASHEM.
11 Vayomeru el-Moshe hamibli ein-kvarim beMitzrayim lekachtanu lamut bamidbar mah-zot asita lanu lehotzi'anu miMitzrayim.
Then they said to Moshe, "Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt?
12 Halo-zeh hadavar asher dibarnu eleicha veMitzrayim lemor chadal mimenu vena'avdah et-Mitzrayim ki tov lanu avod et-Mitzrayim mimutenu bamidbar.
Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, 'Let us alone that we may serve the Egypt?' For it would have been better for us to serve the Egypt than that we should die in the wilderness."
13 Vayomer Moshe el-ha'am al-tira'u hityatsvu ure'u et-yeshu'at HASHEM asher-ya'aseh lachem hayom ki asher re'item et-Mitzrayim hayom lo tosifu lir'otam od ad-olam.
And Moshe said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of HASHEM, which He will accomplish for you today. For the HASHEM whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.
14 HASHEM yilachem lachem ve'atem tacharishun.
HASHEM will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."
Shlishi
"Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Yisrael to go forward.
15 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe mah-titz'ak elay daber el-benei-Yisrael veyisa'u.
And HASHEM said to Moshe,

But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Yisrael shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
17 Va'ani hineni mechazek et-lev Mitzrayim veyavo'u achareIhem ve'ikavdah be'Par'oh uvechol-cheilo berichbo uvefarashav.
And I indeed will harden the hearts of the Egypt, and they shall follow them. So I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, his chariots, and his horsemen.
18 Veyad'u Mitzrayim ki-ani HASHEM behikovdi bePar'oh berichbo uvefarashav.
Then the Egyptians shall know that I am HASHEM, when I have gained honor for Myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen."
19 Vayisa mal'ach ha'Elokim haholech lifnei machaneh Yisrael vayelech me'achareihem vayisa amud he'anan mipneihem vaya'amod me'achareihem.
And the malach of G-d, who went before the camp of Yisrael, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them.
20 Vayavo bein machaneh Mitzrayim uvein machaneh Yisrael vayehi he'anan vehachoshech vaya'er et-halailah velo-karav zeh el-zeh kol-halailah.
So it came between the camp of the Egypt and the camp of Yisrael. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night.
21 Vayet Moshe et-yado al-hayam vayolech HASHEM et-hayam beruach kadim azah kol-halailah vayasem et-hayam lecharavah vayibak'u hamayim.
Then Moshe stretched out his hand over the sea; and HASHEM caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 Vayavo'u venei-Yisrael betoch hayam bayabashah vehamayim lahem chomah miyeminam umismolam.
So the children of Yisrael went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
23 Vayirdefu Mitzrayim vayavo'u achareihem kol sus Par'oh richbo ufarashav el-toch hayam.
And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 Vayehi be'ashmoret haboker vayashkef HASHEM el-machaneh Mitzrayim be'amud esh ve'anan vayahom et machaneh Mitzrayim.
Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that HASHEM looked down upon the army of the Egypt through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egypt.
25 Vayasar et ofan markevotav vayenahagehu bichvedut vayomer Mitzrayim anusah mipnei Yisrael ki HASHEM nilcham lahem beMitzrayim.
And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from the face of Yisrael, for HASHEM fights for them against the Egyptians."
Revi'i
26 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe neteh et-yadcha al-hayam vayashuvu hamayim al-Mitzrayim al-richbo ve'al-parashav.
Then HASHEM said to Moshe, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen."
27 Vayet Moshe et-yado al-hayam vayashov hayam lifnot boker le'eytano uMitzrayim nasim likrato vayena'er HASHEM et-Mitzrayim betoch hayam.
And Moshe stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So HASHEM overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 Vayashuvu hamayim vayechasu et-harechev ve'et-haparashim lechol cheil Par'oh haba'im achareihem bayam lo nish'ar bahem ad-echad.
Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained.
29 Uvenei Yisrael halchu vayabashah betoch hayam vehamayim lahem chomah miyeminam umismolam.
But the children of Yisrael had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
30 Vayosha HASHEM bayom hahu et-Yisrael miyad Mitzrayim vayar Yisrael et-Mitzrayim met al-sfat hayam.
So HASHEM saved Yisrael that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Yisrael saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.
31 Vayar Yisrael et-hayad hagdolah asher asah HASHEM beMitzrayim vayir'u ha'am et-HASHEM vaya'aminu b'HASHEM uveMoshe avdo.
Thus Yisrael saw the great work which HASHEM had done in Egypt; so the people feared HASHEM, and believed HASHEM and His servant Moshe.
The Song by the Sea
15:1 Az yashir-Moshe uvenei Yisrael et-hashirah hazot l'HASHEM vayomeru lemor ashirah l'HASHEM ki-ga'oh ga'ah sus verochevo ramah vayam.
Then Moshe and the children of Yisrael sang this song to HASHEM, and spoke, saying: "I will sing to HASHEM, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!
2 Ozi vezimrat yah vayehi-li lishu'ah zeh Eli ve'anvehu Elokei avi va'aromemenhu.
Yah is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation; He is my G-d, and I will praise Him; My father's G-d, and I will exalt Him.
3 HASHEM ish milchamah HASHEM shemo.
HASHEM is a man of war; HASHEM is His name.
4 Markevot Par'oh vecheylo yarah vayam umivchar shalishav tube'u veYam-Suf.
Pharaoh's chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Reed Sea.
5 Tehomot yechasi'umu yardu bimetzolot kemo-aven.
The depths have covered them; they sank to the bottom like a stone.
6 Yeminecha HASHEM nedari bakoach yeminecha HASHEM tir'atz oiev.
Your right hand, O HASHEM, has become glorious in power; Your right hand, O HASHEM, has dashed the enemy in pieces.
7 Uverov ge'oncha taharos kameicha teshalach charonecha yochelemo kakash.
And in the greatness of Your excellence You have overthrown those who rose against You; You sent forth Your wrath; it consumed them like stubble.
8 Uveruach apeicha ne'ermu mayim nitzvu chmo-ned nozlim kaf'u tehomot belev-yam.
And with the blast of Your nostrils the waters were gathered together; the floods stood upright like a heap; the depths congealed in the heart of the sea.
9 Amar oyev erdof asig achalek shalal timla'emo nafshi arik charebi torishemo yadi.
The enemy said, 'I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; My desire shall be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, My hand shall destroy them.'
10 Nashafta veruchacha kisamo yam tsalelu ka'oferet bemayim adirim.
You blew with Your wind, the sea covered them; they sank like lead in the mighty waters.
11 Mi-chamocha ba'elim HASHEM mi kamocha ne'edar bakodesh nora tehilot oseh-fele.
Who is like You, O HASHEM, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
12 Natita yeminecha tivla'emo aretz.
You stretched out Your right hand; the earth swallowed them.
13 Nachita vechasdecha am-zu ga'alta nehalta ve'ozcha el-neveh kodshecha.
You in Your mercy have led forth the people whom You have redeemed; You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation.
14 Sham'u amim yirgazun chil achaz yoshvey Plashet.
The people will hear and be afraid; sorrow will take hold of the inhabitants of Plashet.
15 Az nivhalu alufei Edom eilei Moav yochazemo ra'ad namogu kol yoshvey Chenaan.
Then the chiefs of Edom will be dismayed; the mighty men of Moav, trembling will take hold of them; all the inhabitants of Kenaan will melt away.
16 Tipol aleihem eimatah vafachad bigdol zro'acha yidmu ka'aven ad-ya'avor amcha HASHEM ad-ya'avor am-zu kanita.
Fear and dread will fall on them; by the greatness of Your arm they will be as still as a stone, till Your people pass over, O HASHEM, till the people pass over whom You have purchased.
17 Tevi'emo vetita'emo behar nachalatcha machon leshivtecha pa'alta HASHEM mikdash HASHEM konenu yadecha.
You will bring them in and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, in the place, O HASHEM, which You have made for Your own dwelling, the sanctuary, O HASHEM, which Your hands have established.
18 HASHEM yimloch le'olam va'ed.
HASHEM shall reign forever and ever."

For the horses of Pharaoh went with his chariots and his horsemen into the sea, and HASHEM brought back the waters of the sea upon them. But the children of Yisrael went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
The Song of Miryam
20 Vatikach Miryam hanevi'ah achot Aharon et-hatof beyadah vatetsena chol-hanashim achareIha betupim uvimcholot.
Then Miryam the prophetess, the sister of Aharon, took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
21 Vata'an lahem Miryam shiru l'HASHEM ki-ga'oh ga'ah sus verochevo ramah vayam.
And Miryam answered them: "Sing to HASHEM, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!"
Marah, Yisrael Tests G-d
22 Vayasa Moshe et-Yisrael miyam-Suf vayetz'u el-midbar-Shur vayelchu shloshet yamim bamidbar velo-matz'u mayim.
So Moshe brought Yisrael from the Reed Sea; then they went out into the Wilderness of Shur. And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water.
23 Vayavo'u Maratah velo yachlu lishtot mayim miMarah ki marim hem al-ken kara-shmah Marah.
Now when they came to Maratah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah.
24 Vayilonu ha'am al-Moshe lemor mah-nishteh.
And the people complained against Moshe, saying, "What shall we drink?"
25 Vayitz'ak el-HASHEM vayorehu HASHEM etz vayashlech el-hamayim vayimteku hamayim sham sam lo chok umishpat vesham nisahu.
So he cried out to HASHEM, and HASHEM showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them. And there He tested them,
26 Vayomer im-shamoa tishma lekol HASHEM Elokeicha vehayashar be'einav ta'aseh veha'azanta lemitzvotav veshamarta kol- chukav kol-hamachalah asher-samti beMitzrayim lo-asim aleicha ki ani HASHEM rof'echa.
and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of HASHEM your G-d and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am HASHEM who heals you."
Chamishi
27 Vayavo'u Eilimah vesham shteim-esreh einot mayim veshiv'im tmarim vayachanu-sham al-hamayim.
Then they came to Eilimah, where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees; so they camped there by the waters.
