Shemot 24:1 - 28:43

24:1 Ve'el-Moshe amar aleh el-HASHEM atah ve'Aharon Nadav va'Avihu veshiv'im miziknei Yisrael vehishtachavitem merachok.
Now He said to Moshe,
"Come up to HASHEM, you and Aharon, Nadav and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Yisrael, and worship from afar.

And Moshe alone shall come near HASHEM, but they shall not come near; nor shall the people go up with him."

3 Vayavo Moshe vayesaper la'am et kol-divrei HASHEM ve'et kol-hamishpatim vaya'an kol-ha'am kol echad vayomru kol-hadevarim asher-diber HASHEM na'aseh.
So Moshe came and told the people all the words of HASHEM and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, "All the words which HASHEM has said we will do."

4 Vayichtov Moshe et kol-divrei HASHEM vayashkem baboker vayiven mizbeach tachat hahar ushteim esreh matzevah lishneim asar shivtei Yisrael.
And Moshe wrote all the words of HASHEM. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according to the twelve tribes of Yisrael.

5 Vayishlach et-na'arei benei Yisrael vaya'alu olot vayizbechu zvachim shlamim l'HASHEM parim.
Then he sent young men of the children of Yisrael, who offered burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to HASHEM.

6 Vayikach Moshe chatsi hadam vayasem ba'aganot vachatsi hadam zarak al-hamizbeach.
And Moshe took half the blood and put it in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

7 Vayikach sefer habrit vayikra be'oznei ha'am vayomeru kol asher-diber HASHEM na'aseh venishma.
Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, "All that HASHEM has said we will do, and be obedient."

And Moshe took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, "This is the blood of the covenant which HASHEM has made with you according to all these words."

Then Moshe went up, also Aharon, Nadav, and Avihu, and seventy of the elders of Yisrael,

10 Vayir'u et Elokei Yisrael vetachat raglav kema'aseh livnat hasapir uche'etzem hashamayim latohar.
and they saw the G-d of Yisrael. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity.

But on the nobles of the children of Yisrael He did not lay His hand. So they saw G-d, and they ate and drank.

12 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe aleh elai haharah vehyeh-sham ve'etnah lecha et-luchot ha'even vehatorah vehamitzvah asher katavti lehorotam.
Then HASHEM said to Moshe,
"Come up to Me on the mountain and be there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the Torah and commandments which I have written, that you may teach them."

So Moshe arose with his assistant Yehoshua, and Moshe went up to the mountain of G-d.

14 Ve'el-hazkenim amar shvu-lanu vazeh ad asher-nashuv aleichem vehineh Aharon veChur imachem mi-va'al dvarim yigash alehem.
And he said to the elders, "Wait here for us until we come back to you. Indeed Aharon and Chur are with you. If any man has a difficulty, let him go to them."

Maftir

15 Vaya'al Moshe el-hahar vayechas he'anan et-hahar.
Then Moshe went up into the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain.

16 Vayishkon kvod-HASHEM al-har Sinai vayechasehu he'anan sheshet yamim vayikra el-Moshe bayom hashvi'i mitoch he'anan.
Now the glory of HASHEM rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moshe out of the midst of the cloud.

17 Umar'eh kvod HASHEM ke'esh ochelet berosh hahar le'eynei benei Yisrael.
The sight of the glory of HASHEM was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Yisrael.

18 Vayavo Moshe betoch he'anan vaya'al el-hahar vayehi Moshe bahar arba'im yom ve'arba'im laylah.
So Moshe went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain. And Moshe was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
