Chamishi

7 Vesaru hatzfarde'im mimecha umibateicha ume'avadeicha ume'amecha rak baYe'or tisha'arnah.
The frogs will depart from you and your houses, and from your servants and your people; only in the River shall they remain."

8 Vayetze Moshe ve'Aharon me'im Par'oh vayitz'ak Moshe el-HASHEM al-devar hatzfarde'im asher-sam le-Par'oh.
Moshe and Aharon left Pharaoh's presence; Moshe cried out to HASHEM concerning the frogs that he had inflicted upon Pharaoh.

9 Vaya'as HASHEM kidevar Moshe vayamutu hatzfarde'im min-habatim min-hachatzerot umin-hasadot.
HASHEM carried out the word of Moshe, and the frogs died - from the houses, from the courtyards, and from the fields.

10 Vayitzberu otam chamarim chamarim vativ'ash ha'aretz.
They piled them up into heaps and heaps, and the land stank.

11 Vayar Par'oh ki hayetah harevachah vehachbed et-libo velo shama alehem ka'asher diber HASHEM.
Pharaoh saw that there had been a relief, and kept making his heart stubborn. He did not heed them, as HASHEM had spoken.

The Third Plague: Lice

12 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe emor el-Aharon neteh et-matcha vehach et-afar ha'aretz vehayah lechinim bechol eretz Mitzrayim.
HASHEM said to Moshe, "Say to Aharon, 'Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the land; it shall become lice throughout the land of Egypt.

So they did: Aharon stretched out his hand with his staff and struck the dust of the land, and the lice-infestation was on man and beast; all the dust of the land became lice, throughout the land of Egypt.

14 Vaya'asu-chen hachartumim belateyhem lehotzi et-hakinim velo yacholu vatehi hakinam ba'adam uvabehemah.
The sorcerers did the same with their incantations to draw forth the lice, but they could not. And the lice-infestation was on man and beast.

15 Vayomeru hachartumim el-Par'oh etzba Elokim hi vayechezak lev-Par'oh velo-shama alehem ka'asher diber HASHEM.
The Sorcerers said to Pharaoh, "It is a finger of G-d!" But Pharaoh's heart was strong and he did not heed them, as HASHEM had spoken.

16 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe hashkem baboker vehityatzev lifnei Par'oh hineh yotze hamaymah ve'amarta elav koh amar HASHEM shalach ami veya'avduni.
HASHEM said to Moshe, "Arise early in the morning and station yourself before Pharaoh - behold, he goes out to the water - and you shall say to him, 'So said HASHEM: Send out My people that they may serve Me.

The Fourth Plague: Swarm of Wild Beasts

For if you do not send out My people, behold, I shall incite against you, your servants, your people, and your houses, the swarm of wild beasts; and the houses of Egypt shall be filled with the swarm, and even the ground upon which they are.

18 Vehifleiti vayom hahu et-eretz Goshen asher ami omed aleiha levilti heyot-sham arov lema'an teda ki ani HASHEM bekerev ha'aretz.
And on that day I shall set apart the land of Goshen upon which My people stands, that there shall be no swarm there; so that you will know that I am HASHEM in the midst of the land.

20 Vaya'as HASHEM ken vayavo arov kaved beitah Par'oh uveit avadav uvechol-eretz Mitzrayim tishachet ha'aretz mipenei he'arov.
HASHEM did so and a severe swarm of wild beasts came to the house of Pharaoh and the house of his servants; and throughout the land of Egypt the land was being ruined because of the swarm.

21 Vayikra Par'oh el-Moshe ule-Aharon vayomer lechu zivechu le-Elokeichem ba'aretz.
Pharaoh summoned Moshe and Aharon and said, "Go - bring offerings to your G-d in the land."

22 Vayomer Moshe lo nachon la'asot ken ki to'avat Mitzrayim nizbach l'HASHEM Elokeinu hen nizbach et-to'avat Mitzrayim le'eineihem velo yiskelunu.
Moshe said, "It is not proper to do so, for we will offer the deity of Egypt to HASHEM, our G-d - behold, if we were to slaughter the deity of Egypt in their sight, will they not stone us?

23 Derech shloshet yamim nelech bamidbar vezavachnu l'HASHEM Elokeinu ka'asher yomar eleinu.
We will go on a three-day journey in the Wilderness, and bring offerings to HASHEM, our G-d, as He will tell us."

24 Vayomer Par'oh anochi ashalach etchem uzevachtem l'HASHEM Elokeichem bamidbar rak harchek lo-tarchiku lalechet hatiru ba'adi.
Pharaoh said, "I will send you and you shall bring offerings to HASHEM, your G-d, in the Wilderness; only do not go far off - entreat for me!"

25 Vayomer Moshe hineh anochi yotze me'imach vehatarti el-HASHEM vesar he'arov miPar'oh me'avadav ume'amo machar rak al-yosef Par'oh hatel levilti shalach et-ha'am lizboach l'HASHEM.
Moshe said, "Behold! I leave you and I shall entreat HASHEM - and the swarm will depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people - tomorrow. Only let Pharaoh not continue to mock, by not sending out the people to being offerings to HASHEM."

26 Vayetze Moshe me'im Par'oh vayetar el-HASHEM.
Moshe left Pharaoh's presence and entreated HASHEM.

27 Vaya'as HASHEM kidvar Moshe vayasar he'arov miPar'oh me'avadav ume'amo lo nish'ar echad.
HASHEM did in accordance with Moshe's word and He removed the swarm of wild beasts from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people - not one remained.

28 Vayachbed Par'oh et-libo gam bapa'am hazot velo shilach et-ha'am.
But Pharaoh made his heart stubborn even this time, and he did not send out the people.

The Fifth Plague: Epidemic

9:1 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe bo el-Par'oh vedibarta elav koh amar HASHEM Elokei ha'Ivrim shalach et-ami veya'avduni.
HASHEM said to Moshe, "Come to Pharaoh and speak to him, 'So said HASHEM, the G-d of the Hebrews: Send out My people that they may serve Me.'

2 Ki im-ma'en atah leshale'ach ve'odecha machazik bam.
For if you refuse to send out, and you continue to grip them;

behold, the hand of HASHEM is on your livestock that are in the field, on the horses, on the donkeys, on the camels, on the cattle, and on the flock - a very severe epidemic.

4 Vehiflah HASHEM bein mikneh Yisrael uvein mikneh Mitzrayim velo yamut mikol-livnei Yisrael davar.
HASHEM shall distinguish between the livestock of Yisrael and the livestock of Egypt, and not a thing that belongs to the Children of Yisrael will die.

5 Vayasem HASHEM mo'ed lemor machar ya'aseh HASHEM hadavar hazeh ba'aretz.
HASHEM has set an appointed time, saying, 'Tomorrow HASHEM shall carry out this word in the land.'"

6 Vaya'as HASHEM et-hadavar hazeh mimochorat vayamot kol mikneh Mitzrayim umimikneh venei-Yisrael lo-met echad.
HASHEM carried out this word the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died, and of the livestock of the Children of Yisrael not one died.

7 Vayishlach Par'oh vehineh lo-met mimikneh Yisrael ad-echad vayichbad lev Par'oh velo shilach et-ha'am.
Pharaoh sent and behold, of the livestock of Yisrael not even one had died - yet Pharaoh's heart became stubborn and he did not send out the people.

The Sixth plague: Boils

8 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe ve'el-Aharon kechu lachem melo chofneichem piach kivshan uzrako Moshe hashamaymah le'einei Par'oh.
HASHEM said to Moshe and Aharon, "Take for yourselves handfuls of furnace soot, and let Moshe hurl it heavenward before Pharaoh's eyes.

9 Vehayah le'avak al kol-eretz Mitzrayim vehayah al-ha'adam ve'al-habehemah lishchin pore'ach avabu'ot bechol-eretz Mitzrayim.
It will become dust over the entire land of Egypt, and it will become boils erupting into blisters on man and beast throughout the land of Egypt."

10 Vayikchu et-piach hakivshan vaya'amdu lifnei Par'oh vayizrok oto Moshe hashamaymah vayehi shchin avabu'ot pore'ach ba'adam uvabehemah.
They took soot of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh, and Moshe threw it heavenward; and it became boils and blisters, erupting on man and beast.

11 Velo yachlu hachartumim la'amod lifnei Moshe mipnei hashchin ki-hayah hashchin bachartumim uvechol-Mitzrayim.
The necromancers could not stand before Moshe because of the boils, because the boils were on the necromancers and on all of Egypt.

12 Vayechazek HASHEM et-lev Par'oh velo shama alehem ka'asher diber HASHEM el-Moshe.
HASHEM strengthened the heart of Pharaoh and he did not heed them, as HASHEM had spoken to Moshe.

The Seventh Plague: Hail

13 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe hashkem baboker vehityatzev lifnei Par'oh ve'amarta elav koh-amar HASHEM Elokei ha'Ivrim shalach et-ami veya'avduni.
HASHEM spoke to Moshe, "Arise early in the morning and station yourself before Pharaoh; say to him, 'So said HASHEM, the G-d of the Hebrews: Send out My people that they may serve Me.

14 Ki bapa'am hazot ani shole'ach et-kol-magefotai el-libkha uva'avadeicha uve'amekha ba'avur teda ki ein kamoni bechol-ha'aretz.
For this time I shall send all My plagues against your heart, and upon your servants, and your people, so that you shall know that there is none like Me in all the world.

However, for this have I let you endure, in order to show you My strength and so that My Name may be declared throughout the world.

20 Hayare et-dvar HASHEM me'avdei Par'oh henis et-avadav ve'et-miknehu el-habatim.
Whoever among the servants of Pharaoh feared the word of HASHEM chased his servants and his livestock to the houses.

21 Va'asher lo-sam libo el-dvar HASHEM vaya'azov et-avadav ve'et-miknehu basadeh.
And whoever did not take the word of Elokim to heart - he left his servants and livestock inthe field.

26 Rak be'eretz Goshen asher-sham benei Yisrael lo hayah barad.
Only in the land of Goshen, where the Children of Yisrael were, there was no hail.

27 Vayishlach Par'oh vayikra le-Moshe ule-Aharon vayomer alehem chatati hapa'am HASHEM hatzadik va'ani ve'ami haresha'im.
Pharaoh sent and summoned Moshe and Aharon and said to them, "This time I have sinned; HASHEM is the Righteous One, and I and my people are the wicked ones.

28 Hatiru el-HASHEM verav miheyot kolot Elokim uvarad va'ashalechah etchem velo tosifun la'amod.
Entreat HASHEM - there has been an overabundance of G-dly thunder and hail; I shall send you out and you shall not continue to remain."

29 Vayomer elav Moshe ketzeti et-ha'ir efros et-kapai el-HASHEM hakolot yechdalun vehabarad lo yihyeh-od lema'an teda ki l'HASHEM ha'aretz.
Moshe said to him, "When I leave the city I shall spread out my hands to HASHEM; the thunder will cease and the hail will not longer be, so that you shall know that the earth is HASHEM's.

30 Ve'atah va'avadeicha yadati ki terem tir'un mipenei HASHEM Elokim.
And as for you and your servants, I know that you are not yet afraid of HASHEM, G-d.

31 Vehapishtah vehase'orah nukatah ki hase'orah aviv vehapishtah giv'ol.
The flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was ripe and the flax was in its stalk.

32 Vehachitah vehakusemet lo nuku ki afilot henah.
And the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they ripen later.

Maftir

33 Vayetze Moshe me'im Par'oh et-ha'ir vayifros kapav el-HASHEM vayachdelu hakolot vehabarad umatar lo-nitach artzah.
Moshe went out from Pharaoh, from the city, and he stretched out his hands to HASHEM; the thunder and hail ceased and rain did not reach the earth.

34 Vayar Par'oh ki-chadal hamatar vehabarad vehakolot vayosef lachato vayachbed libo hu va'avadav.
Pharaoh saw that the rain, the hail, and the thunder ceased, and he continued to sin; and he made his heart stubborn, he and his servants.

Pharaoh's heart became strong and he did not send out the Children of Yisrael, as HASHEM had spoken through Moshe.

The Eighth Plague: Locusts

10:1 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe bo el-Par'oh ki-ani hichbadeti et-libo ve'et-lev avadav lema'an shiti ototai eleh bekirbo.
HASHEM said to Moshe, "Come to Pharaoh, for I have made his heart and the heart of his servants stubborn so that I can put these signs of Mine in his midst;

2 Ulema'an tesaper be'oznei vinkha uven-bincha et asher hit'alalti beMitzrayim ve'et-ototai asher-samti vam vidatem ki-ani HASHEM.
and so that you may relate in the ears of your sons and your son's son that I made a mockery of Mitzrayim and My signs that I placed among them - that you may know that I am HASHEM."

3 Vayavo Moshe ve'Aharon el-Par'oh vayomeru elav koh-amar HASHEM Elokei ha'Ivrim ad-matai me'anta le'anot mipanai shalach ami veya'avduni.
Moshe and Aharon came to Pharaoh and said to him, "So said HASHEM, G-d of the Hebrews: Until when will you refuse to be humbled before Me? Send out My people that they may serve Me!

4 Ki im-ma'en atah leshale'ach et-ami hineni mevi machar arbeh bigvulecha.
For if you refuse to send forth My people, behold, tomorrow I shall bring a locust-swarm into your border.

7 Vayomeru avdei Par'oh elav ad-matai yihyeh zeh lanu lemokesh shalach et-ha'anashim veya'avdu et-HASHEM Elokeihem haterem teda ki avdah Mitzrayim.
Pharaoh's servants said to him, "How long will this be a snare for us? Send out the men that they may serve HASHEM, their G-d! Do you not yet know that Egypt is lost?"

8 Vayushav et-Moshe ve'et-Aharon el-Par'oh vayomer alehem lechu ivdu et-HASHEM Elokeichem mi vami haholechim.
So Moshe and Aharon were returned to Pharaoh and he said to them, "Go and serve HASHEM, your G-d; which ones are going?"

9 Vayomer Moshe bine'areynu uvizkeneinu nelech bevaneynu uvivnotenu betzonenu uvivkarenu nelech ki chag-HASHEM lanu.

10 Vayomer alehem yehi chen HASHEM imachem ka'asher ashalach etchem ve'et-tapchem re'u ki ra'ah neged peneichem.

Not so; let the men go now. Serve HASHEM, for that is what you seek!" And he drove them out from Pharaoh's presence.

13 Vayet Moshe et-matehu al-eretz Mitzrayim v'HASHEM nihag ruach-kadim ba'aretz kol-hayom hahu vechol-halailah haboker hayah veruach hakadim nasa et-ha'arbeh.
Moshe stretched his staff over the land of Egypt, and HASHEM guided an east wind through the land all that day and all the night. It became morning and the east wind carried the locust-swarm.

14 Vaya'al ha'arbeh al kol-eretz Mitzrayim vayanach bechol gvul Mitzrayim kaved me'od lefanai lo-hayah chen arbeh kamohu ve'acharav lo yihyeh-ken.
The locust-swarm ascended over the entire land of Egypt and it rested in the entire border of Egypt, very severely; before it there was never a locust-swarm like it and after it there will not be its equal.

15 Vayechas et-ein kol-ha'aretz vatecheshach ha'aretz vayochal et-kol-esev ha'aretz ve'et kol-peri ha'etz asher hotir habarad velo-notar kol-yerek ba'etz uve'esev hasadeh bechol-eretz Mitzrayim.
It covered the surface of the entire land and the land was darkened; it ate all the grass of the land and all the land of the tree that the hail left over. No greenery remained on the trees or the grass of the field in the entire land of Egypt.

16 Vayemaher Par'oh likro le-Moshe ule-Aharon vayomer chatati l'HASHEM Elokeichem velachem.
Pharaoh hastened to summon Moshe and Aharon and he said, "I have sinned to HASHEM, your G-d, and to you.

17 Ve'atah sa na chatati ach hapa'am vehatiru l'HASHEM Elokeichem veyaser me'alay rak et-hamavet hazeh.
And now, please forgive my sin just this time, and entreat HASHEM, your G-d, that He remove from me only this death."

18 Vayetze me'im Par'oh vayetar el-HASHEM.
He left Pharaoh and entreated HASHEM.

19 Vayahafoch HASHEM ruach-yam chazak me'od vayisa et-ha'arbeh vayitka'ehu Yamah Suf lo nish'ar arbeh echad bechol gevul Mitzrayim.
HASHEM turned back a very powerful west wind and it carried the locust-swarm and hurled it toward the Sea of Reeds; not a single locust remained within the entire border of Egypt.

20 Vayechazek HASHEM et-lev Par'oh velo shilach et-benei Yisrael.
But HASHEM strengthened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not send out the Children of Yisra'el.

The Ninth Plague: Darkness

21 Vayomer HASHEM el-Moshe neteh yadecha al-hashamayim vyhi choshech al-eretz Mitzrayim veyamesh choshech.
HASHEM said to Moshe, "Stretch out your hand toward the heavens, and there shall be darkness upon the land of Egypt, and the darkness will be tangible."

22 Vayet Moshe et-yado al-hashamayim vayehi choshech-afelah bechol-eretz Mitzrayim shloshet yamim.
Moshe stretched forth his hand toward the heavens and there was a thick darkness throughout the land of Egypt for a three-day period.

23 Lo-ra'u ish et-achiv velo-kamu ish mitachtav shloshet yamim ulechol-benei Yisrael hayah or bemoshevotam.
No man could see his brother nor could anyone rise from his place for a three-day period; but for al the Children of Yisrael there was light in their dwellings.

27 Vayechazek HASHEM et-lev Par'oh velo avah leshalecham.
HASHEM strengthened the heart of Pharaoh and he did not wish to send them out.
