Bereishit Chapter 27

 

א וַיְהִי כִּי-זָקֵן יִצְחָק וַתִּכְהֶיןָ עֵינָיו מֵרְאֹת וַיִּקְרָא אֶת-עֵשָׂו בְּנוֹ הַגָּדֹל וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו בְּנִי וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו הִנֵּנִי

 

 

Vayehi ki-zaken Yitzchak vatichheinah einav mer'ot vayikra et-Esav beno hagadol vayomer elav beni vayomer elav hineni.

 

 

1. Yitzchak grew old, and his eyesight faded. He summoned his elder son Esav and said to him, "My son!" [Esav] said, "Here I am."

 

 

ב וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֵּה-נָא זָקַנְתִּי לֹא יָדַעְתִּי יוֹם מוֹתִי

 

 

Vayomer hineh-na zakanti lo yadati yom moti.

 

 

2. [Yitzchak] said, "Behold, if you please, I am old. I do not know the day of my death."

 

 

ג וְעַתָּה֙ שָׂא־נָ֣א כֵלֶ֔יךָ תֶּלְיְךָ֖ וְקַשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ וְצֵא֙ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה וְצ֥וּדָה לִּ֖י צָֽיִד (כתיב צידה

 

 

Ve'atah sa-na cheleicha telyecha vekashtecha vetze hasadeh vetzudah li tza'id

 

 

3. "Now, take your gear, your sword and bow; go out to the field, and trap me some game."

 

 

ד וַעֲשֵׂה-לִי מַטְעַמִּים כַּאֲשֶׁר אָהַבְתִּי וְהָבִיאָה לִּי--וְאֹכֵלָה: בַּעֲבוּר תְּבָרֶכְךָ נַפְשִׁי בְּטֶרֶם אָמוּת

 

 

Va'aseh-li mat'amim ka'asher ahavti vehavi'ah li ve'ochelah ba'avur tevarechecha nafshi beterem amut.

 

 

4. "Prepare me a delicacy, the way I like it, and bring it to me to eat, so that my soul will bless you before I die."

 

 

ה וְרִבְקָה שֹׁמַעַת--בְּדַבֵּר יִצְחָק אֶל-עֵשָׂו בְּנוֹ וַיֵּלֶךְ עֵשָׂו הַשָּׂדֶה לָצוּד צַיִד לְהָבִיא

 

 

VeRivkah shoma'at bedaber Yitzchak el-Esav beno vayelech Esav hasadeh latzud tza'id lehavi.

 

 

5. Rivkah had been listening while Yitzchak had spoken to his son Esav. Esav went out to the field to trip to trap game to bring it [home].

 

 

ו וְרִבְקָה אָמְרָה אֶל-יַעֲקֹב בְּנָהּ לֵאמֹר: הִנֵּה שָׁמַעְתִּי אֶת-אָבִיךָ מְדַבֵּר אֶל-עֵשָׂו אָחִיךָ לֵאמֹר

 

 

VeRivkah amrah el-Ya'akov benah lemor hineh shamati et-avicha medaber el-Esav achicha lemor.

 

 

6. Rivkah said to her son Yaakov, "I just heard your father speaking to your brother Esav, saying,"

 

 

ז הָבִיאָה לִּי צַיִד וַעֲשֵׂה-לִי מַטְעַמִּים וְאֹכֵלָה וַאֲבָרֶכְכָה לִפְנֵי יְהוָה לִפְנֵי מוֹתִי

 

 

Havi'ah li tza'id va'aseh-li mat'amim ve'ochelah va'avarechecha lifney HASHEM lifnei moti.

 

 

7. "Bring me game and akeme a delicacy. I will eat it and bless you in the presence of HASHEM before I die."

 

 

ח וְעַתָּה בְנִי שְׁמַע בְּקֹלִי--לַאֲשֶׁר אֲנִי מְצַוָּה אֹתָךְ

 

 

Ve'atah veni shma bekoli la'asher ani metzavah otach.

 

 

8. "Now, my son, listen tome, to the instructions that I give you."

 

 

ט לֶךְ-נָא אֶל-הַצֹּאן וְקַח-לִי מִשָּׁם שְׁנֵי גְּדָיֵי עִזִּים טֹבִים וְאֶעֱשֶׂה אֹתָם מַטְעַמִּים לְאָבִיךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר אָהֵב

 

 

Lech-na el-hatzon vekach-li misham shnei gedayei izim tovim ve'e'eseh otam mat'amim le'avicha ka'asher ahev

 

 

9. "Go, if you please, to the sheep, and take two choice young kids. I will prepare them as a delicacy, as your father likes them."

 

 

י וְהֵבֵאתָ לְאָבִיךָ וְאָכָל בַּעֲבֻר אֲשֶׁר יְבָרֶכְךָ לִפְנֵי מוֹתוֹ

 

 

Veheveta le'avicha ve'achal ba'avur asher yevarechecha lifnei moto.

 

 

10. "You must bring it to your father so that he will eat and bless you before he dies."

 

 

יא וַיֹּאמֶר יַעֲקֹב אֶל-רִבְקָה אִמּוֹ: הֵן עֵשָׂו אָחִי אִישׁ שָׂעִר וְאָנֹכִי אִישׁ חָלָק

 

 

Vayomer Ya'akov el-Rivkah imo hen Esav achi ish sa'ir ve'anochi ish chalak.

 

 

11. Yaakov said to his mother Rivkah, "But my brother Esav is hirsute, while I am smooth-skinned."

 

 

יב אוּלַי יְמֻשֵּׁנִי אָבִי וְהָיִיתִי בְעֵינָיו כִּמְתַעְתֵּעַ וְהֵבֵאתִי עָלַי קְלָלָה וְלֹא בְרָכָה

 

 

Ulai yemusheni avi vehayiti ve'einav kimtate'a veheveti alai klalah velo verachah.

 

 

12. "Suppose my father touches me. He will see that I am an imposter. I will bring on myself a curse rather than a blessing."

 

 

יג וַתֹּאמֶר לוֹ אִמּוֹ עָלַי קִלְלָתְךָ בְּנִי אַךְ שְׁמַע בְּקֹלִי וְלֵךְ קַח-לִי

 

 

Vatomer lo imo alai kilelatecha beni ach shma bekoli velech kach-li.

 

 

13. His mother said to him, "Upon me shall be your curse, my son. But listen to me. Go and bring it to me."

 

 

יד וַיֵּלֶךְ וַיִּקַּח וַיָּבֵא לְאִמּוֹ וַתַּעַשׂ אִמּוֹ מַטְעַמִּים כַּאֲשֶׁר אָהֵב אָבִיו

 

 

Vayelech vayikach vayave le'imo vata'as imo mat'amim ka'asher ahev aviv.

 

 

14. [Yaakov] went and fetched them to his mother, and she prepared a delicacy, as his father loved [it].

 

 

טו וַתִּקַּח רִבְקָה אֶת-בִּגְדֵי עֵשָׂו בְּנָהּ הַגָּדֹל הַחֲמֻדֹת אֲשֶׁר אִתָּהּ בַּבָּיִת וַתַּלְבֵּשׁ אֶת-יַעֲקֹב בְּנָהּ הַקָּטָן

 

 

Vatikach Rivkah et-bigdei Esav benah hagadol hachamudot asher itah babayit vatalbesh et-Ya'akov benah hakatan.

 

 

15. Rivkah took the precious garments of Esav her older son, which she had in her keeping in the house, and she put them on her younger son Yaakov.

 

 

טז וְאֵת עֹרֹת גְּדָיֵי הָעִזִּים הִלְבִּישָׁה עַל-יָדָיו--וְעַל חֶלְקַת צַוָּארָיו

 

 

Ve'et orot gedayei ha'izim hilbishah al-yadav ve'al chelkat tzav'arav.

 

 

16. She then placed the skins of the young kids on his arms and on the hairless parts of his neck.

 

 

יז וַתִּתֵּן אֶת-הַמַּטְעַמִּים וְאֶת-הַלֶּחֶם אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂתָה בְּיַד יַעֲקֹב בְּנָהּ

 

 

Vatiten et-hamat'amim ve'et-halechem asher asatah beyad Ya'akov benah.

 

 

17. [Rivkah] handed the delicacy and the bead she had prepared to her son Yaakov.

 

 

יח וַיָּבֹא אֶל-אָבִיו וַיֹּאמֶר אָבִי וַיֹּאמֶר הִנֶּנִּי מִי אַתָּה בְּנִי

 

 

Vayavo el-aviv vayomer avi vayomer hineni mi atah beni.

 

 

18. [Yaakov] came to his father and said, "My father!" [Yitzchak] said, "Here I am. Who are you, my son?"

 

 

יט וַיֹּאמֶר יַעֲקֹב אֶל-אָבִיו אָנֹכִי עֵשָׂו בְּכֹרֶךָ--עָשִׂיתִי כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּבַּרְתָּ אֵלָי קוּם-נָא שְׁבָה וְאָכְלָה מִצֵּידִי--בַּעֲבוּר תְּבָרְכַנִּי נַפְשֶׁךָ

 

 

Vayomer Ya'akov el-aviv anochi Esav bechorecha asiti ka'asher dibarta elai kum-na shevah ve'achlah mitze'idi ba'avur tevarachani nafshecha.

 

 

19. [Yaakov] said to his father, "It is I, Esav your firstborn. I have done as you have told me. Rise, if you please, sit up, and eat my game, so that your soul may bless me."

 

 

כ וַיֹּאמֶר יִצְחָק אֶל-בְּנוֹ מַה-זֶּה מִהַרְתָּ לִמְצֹא בְּנִי וַיֹּאמֶר כִּי הִקְרָה יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ לְפָנָי

 

 

Vayomer Yitzchak el-beno mah-zeh miharta limtzo beni vayomer ki hikrah HASHEM Elokeicha lefanai.

 

 

20. Yitzchak said to his son, "How is it that you found it so quickly, my son?" [Yaakov] said, "HASHEM your G-d brought it about for me."

 

 

כא וַיֹּאמֶר יִצְחָק אֶל-יַעֲקֹב גְּשָׁה-נָּא וַאֲמֻשְׁךָ בְּנִי: הַאַתָּה זֶה בְּנִי עֵשָׂו אִם-לֹא

 

 

Vayomer Yitzchak el-Ya'akov gshah-na va'amushecha beni ha'atah zeh bni Esav im-lo.

 

 

21. Yitzchak said to Yaakov, "Come close, if you please, and let me touch you, my son. Are you my son Esav or not?"

 

 

כב וַיִּגַּשׁ יַעֲקֹב אֶל-יִצְחָק אָבִיו וַיְמֻשֵּׁהוּ וַיֹּאמֶר הַקֹּל קוֹל יַעֲקֹב וְהַיָּדַיִם יְדֵי עֵשָׂו

 

 

Vayigash Ya'akov el-Yitzchak aviv vayemushehu vayomer hakol kol-Ya'akov vehayadayim yedei Esav.

 

 

22. Yaakov came close to Yitzchak his father, and [Yitzchak] touched him. He said, "The voice is the voice of Yaakov, but the hands are the hands of Esav."

 

 

כג וְלֹא הִכִּירוֹ--כִּי-הָיוּ יָדָיו כִּידֵי עֵשָׂו אָחִיו שְׂעִרֹת וַיְבָרְכֵהוּ

 

 

Velo hikiro ki-hayu yadav kidei Esav achiv se'irot vayevarechehu

 

 

23. He did not recognize him because his arms were hairy like those of his brother Esav. [Yitzchak] blessed him

 

 

כד וַיֹּאמֶר אַתָּה זֶה בְּנִי עֵשָׂו וַיֹּאמֶר אָנִי

 

 

Vayomer atah zeh beni Esav vayomer ani.

 

 

24. and said, "You are indeed my son Esav!" [Yaakov] said, "I am."

 

 

כה וַיֹּאמֶר הַגִּשָׁה לִּי וְאֹכְלָה מִצֵּיד בְּנִי--לְמַעַן תְּבָרֶכְךָ נַפְשִׁי וַיַּגֶּשׁ-לוֹ וַיֹּאכַל וַיָּבֵא לוֹ יַיִן וַיֵּשְׁתְּ

 

 

Vayomer hagishah li ve'ochlah mitze'id beni lema'an tevarechecha nafshi vayagesh-lo vayochal vayave-lo yayin vayesht.

 

 

25. [Yitzchak] said, "Serve it to me, and I will eat my son's venison, so that my soul will bless you." [Yaakov] served it, and he ate. He then brought [Yitzchak] wine, and he drank.

 

 

כו וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו יִצְחָק אָבִיו: גְּשָׁה-נָּא וּשְׁקָה-לִּי בְּנִי

 

 

Vayomer elav Yitzchak aviv gshah-na ushakah-li beni.

 

 

26. His father Yitzchak said to him, "Come here and kiss me, my son."

 

 

כז וַיִּגַּשׁ וַיִּשַּׁק-לוֹ וַיָּרַח אֶת-רֵיחַ בְּגָדָיו וַיְבָרְכֵהוּ; וַיֹּאמֶר רְאֵה רֵיחַ בְּנִי כְּרֵיחַ שָׂדֶה אֲשֶׁר בֵּרְכוֹ יְהוָה

 

 

Vayigash vayishak-lo vayarach et-re'ach begadav vayevarechehu vayomer re'eh re'ach beni kere'ach sadeh asher beracho HASHEM.

 

 

27. [Yaakov] came close and kissed him. [Yitzchak] smelled the fragrance of his garments and he blessed him. He said, "See, my son's fragrance is like the fragrance of a field blessed by HASHEM."

 

 

כח וְיִתֶּן-לְךָ הָאֱלֹהִים מִטַּל הַשָּׁמַיִם וּמִשְׁמַנֵּי הָאָרֶץ--וְרֹב דָּגָן וְתִירֹשׁ

 

 

Veyiten-lecha ha'Elokim mital hashamayim umishmanei ha'aretz verov dagan vetirosh.

 

 

28. "And may G-d grant you of the heaven's dew and of the earth's abundance, much grain and wine."

 

 

כט יַעַבְדוּךָ עַמִּים וישתחו (וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ) לְךָ לְאֻמִּים--הֱוֵה גְבִיר לְאַחֶיךָ וְיִשְׁתַּחֲווּ לְךָ בְּנֵי אִמֶּךָ אֹרְרֶיךָ אָרוּר וּמְבָרְכֶיךָ בָּרוּךְ

 

 

Ya'avducha amim veyishtachavu lecha le'umim heveh gevir le'achecha veyishtachavu lecha benei imecha orereicha arur umevarachecha baruch.

 

 

29. "Peoples will serve you. Governments will prostrate themselves to you. You shall be your brother's liege. Your mother's sons will prostrate themselves to you. Those who curse you are cursed, and those who bless you are blessed."

 

 

ל וַיְהִי כַּאֲשֶׁר כִּלָּה יִצְחָק לְבָרֵךְ אֶת-יַעֲקֹב וַיְהִי אַךְ יָצֹא יָצָא יַעֲקֹב מֵאֵת פְּנֵי יִצְחָק אָבִיו וְעֵשָׂו אָחִיו בָּא מִצֵּידוֹ

 

 

Vayehi ka'asher kilah Yitzchak levarech et-Ya'akov vayehi ach yatzo yatza Ya'akov me'et penei Yitzchak aviv ve'Esav achiv ba mitze'ido.

 

 

30. Yitzchak had finished blessing Yaakov. Yaakov had just left his father Yitzchak, when his brother Esav came bac from his hunt.

 

 

לא וַיַּעַשׂ גַּם-הוּא מַטְעַמִּים וַיָּבֵא לְאָבִיו וַיֹּאמֶר לְאָבִיו יָקֻם אָבִי וְיֹאכַל מִצֵּיד בְּנוֹ--בַּעֲבֻר תְּבָרְכַנִּי נַפְשֶׁךָ

 

 

Vaya'as gam-hu mat'amim vayave le-aviv vayomer le-aviv yakum avi veyochal mitze'id beno ba'avur tevarachani nafsecha.

 

 

31. He also made a delicacy and brought it to his father. He said to his father, "Let my father rise and eat his son's venison so that your soul may bless me."

 

 

לב וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ יִצְחָק אָבִיו מִי-אָתָּה וַיֹּאמֶר אֲנִי בִּנְךָ בְכֹרְךָ עֵשָׂו

 

 

Vayomer lo Yitzchak aviv mi-atah vayomer ani bincha bechorecha Esav.

 

 

32. His father Yitzchak said to him, "Who are you?" He said, "I am your firstborn son, Esav."

 

 

לג וַיֶּחֱרַד יִצְחָק חֲרָדָה גְּדֹלָה עַד-מְאֹד וַיֹּאמֶר מִי-אֵפוֹא הוּא הַצָּד-צַיִד וַיָּבֵא לִי וָאֹכַל מִכֹּל בְּטֶרֶם תָּבוֹא וָאֲבָרְכֵהוּ גַּם-בָּרוּךְ יִהְיֶה

 

 

Vayecherad Yitzchak charadah gdolah ad-me'od vayomer mi-efo hu hatzad-tza'id vayave li va'ochal mikol beterem tavo va'avarachehu gam-baruch yihyeh.

 

 

33. Yitzchak was seized with an extremely violent fit of trembling. He said, "Who - where - is the one who trapped game and served it to me? I ate all of it before you came and I blessed him. He shall also remain blessed."

 

 

לד כִּשְׁמֹעַ עֵשָׂו אֶת-דִּבְרֵי אָבִיו וַיִּצְעַק צְעָקָה גְּדֹלָה וּמָרָה עַד-מְאֹד וַיֹּאמֶר לְאָבִיו בָּרְכֵנִי גַם-אָנִי אָבִי

 

 

Kishmo'a Esav et-divrei aviv vayitz'ak tze'akah gdolah umarah ad-me'od vayomer le'aviv baracheni gam-ani avi.

 

 

34. When Esav heard his father's words, he gave out a most loud and bitter scream. He said to his father, "Bless me too, father."

 

 

לה וַיֹּאמֶר בָּא אָחִיךָ בְּמִרְמָה וַיִּקַּח בִּרְכָתֶךָ

 

 

Vayomer ba achicha bemirmah vayikach birchatecha.

 

 

35. [Yitzchak] said, "Your brother came with deception and he took your blessing."

 

 

לו וַיֹּאמֶר הֲכִי קָרָא שְׁמוֹ יַעֲקֹב וַיַּעְקְבֵנִי זֶה פַעֲמַיִם--אֶת-בְּכֹרָתִי לָקָח וְהִנֵּה עַתָּה לָקַח בִּרְכָתִי וַיֹּאמַר הֲלֹא-אָצַלְתָּ לִּי בְּרָכָה

 

 

Vayomer hachi kara shmo Ya'akov vayakveni zeh fa'amayim et-bechorati lakach vehineh atah lakach birchati vayomar halo-atzalta li berachah.

 

 

36. [Esav] said, "Isn't he truly named Yaakov? He went behind my back (akav) twice. First he took my birthright, and now he took my blessing." He said, "Haven't you saved me a blessing?"

 

 

לז וַיַּעַן יִצְחָק וַיֹּאמֶר לְעֵשָׂו הֵן גְּבִיר שַׂמְתִּיו לָךְ וְאֶת-כָּל-אֶחָיו נָתַתִּי לוֹ לַעֲבָדִים וְדָגָן וְתִירֹשׁ סְמַכְתִּיו וּלְכָה אֵפוֹא מָה אֶעֱשֶׂה בְּנִי

 

 

Vaya'an Yitzchak vayomer le-Esav hen gevir samtiv lach ve'et-kol-echav natati lo la'avadim vedagan vetirosh semachtiv ulecha efo mah e'eseh beni.

 

 

37. Yitzchak replied and said to Esav, "Behold I have made him your liege master. I have given him all his brothers as slaves. I have fortified him with grain and wine. Where...What can I do for you my son?"

 

 

לח וַיֹּאמֶר עֵשָׂו אֶל-אָבִיו הַבְרָכָה אַחַת הִוא-לְךָ אָבִי--בָּרְכֵנִי גַם-אָנִי אָבִי וַיִּשָּׂא עֵשָׂו קֹלוֹ וַיֵּבְךְּ

 

 

Vayomer Esav el-aviv havrachah achat hi-lecha avi baracheni gam-ani avi vayisa Esav kolo vayevk.

 

 

38. Esav said to his father, "Do you only have one blessing, my father? Bless me too father!" Esav lifted his voice and wept.

 

 

לט וַיַּעַן יִצְחָק אָבִיו וַיֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו: הִנֵּה מִשְׁמַנֵּי הָאָרֶץ יִהְיֶה מוֹשָׁבֶךָ וּמִטַּל הַשָּׁמַיִם מֵעָל

 

 

Vaya'an Yitzchak aviv vayomer elav hineh mishmanei ha'aretz yihyeh moshavecha umital hashamayim me'al.

 

 

39. His father Yitzchak replied and said to him, "Behold, the abundance of the earth shall be your dwelling, and the heaven's dew from above."

 

 

מ וְעַל-חַרְבְּךָ תִחְיֶה וְאֶת-אָחִיךָ תַּעֲבֹד וְהָיָה כַּאֲשֶׁר תָּרִיד וּפָרַקְתָּ עֻלּוֹ מֵעַל צַוָּארֶךָ

 

 

Ve'al-charbecha tichyeh ve'et-achicha ta'avod vehayah ka'asher tarid ufarakta ulo me'al tzavarecha.

 

 

40. By your sword you shall live. You shall serve your brother. When you have cause to complain, you will throw off his yoke from your neck."

 

 

מא וַיִּשְׂטֹם עֵשָׂו אֶת-יַעֲקֹב עַל-הַבְּרָכָה אֲשֶׁר בֵּרְכוֹ אָבִיו וַיֹּאמֶר עֵשָׂו בְּלִבּוֹ יִקְרְבוּ יְמֵי אֵבֶל אָבִי וְאַהַרְגָה אֶת-יַעֲקֹב אָחִי

 

 

Vayistom Esav et-Ya'akov al-habrachah asher beracho aviv vayomer Esav belibo yikrevu yemei evel avi ve'ahargah et-Ya'akov achi.

 

 

41. Esav was furious at Yaakov because of the blessing which his father had given him. Esav said to himself, "The days of mourning for my father are approachinng. I will then kill Yaakov."

 

 

מב וַיֻּגַּד לְרִבְקָה אֶת-דִּבְרֵי עֵשָׂו בְּנָהּ הַגָּדֹל; וַתִּשְׁלַח וַתִּקְרָא לְיַעֲקֹב בְּנָהּ הַקָּטָן וַתֹּאמֶר אֵלָיו הִנֵּה עֵשָׂו אָחִיךָ מִתְנַחֵם לְךָ לְהָרְגֶךָ

 

 

Vayugad le-Rivkah et-divrei Esav benah hagadol vatishlach vatikra le-Ya'akov benah hakatan vatomer elav hineh Esav achicha mitnachem lecha lehorgecha.

 

 

42. The words of her older son Esav were reported to Rivkah. She sent a messenger and summoned her younger son Yaakov, and said to him, "Behold, your brother Esav is consoling himself by [planning to] kill you."

 

 

מג וְעַתָּה בְנִי שְׁמַע בְּקֹלִי וְקוּם בְּרַח-לְךָ אֶל-לָבָן אָחִי חָרָנָה

 

 

Ve'atah veni shma bekoli vekum brach-lecha el-Lavan achi Charanah.

 

 

43. "Now, my son, listen to me. Set out and flee to Lavan my brother in Charan."

 

 

מד וְיָשַׁבְתָּ עִמּוֹ יָמִים אֲחָדִים--עַד אֲשֶׁר-תָּשׁוּב חֲמַת אָחִיךָ

 

 

Veyashavta imo yamim achadim ad asher-tashuv chamat achicha.

 

 

44. "Remain with him awhile, until your brother's anger has subsided -"

 

 

מה עַד-שׁוּב אַף-אָחִיךָ מִמְּךָ וְשָׁכַח אֵת אֲשֶׁר-עָשִׂיתָ לּוֹ וְשָׁלַחְתִּי וּלְקַחְתִּיךָ מִשָּׁם לָמָה אֶשְׁכַּל גַּם-שְׁנֵיכֶם יוֹם אֶחָד

 

 

Ad-shuv af-achicha mimcha veshachach et asher-asita lo veshalachti ulekachticha misham lamah eshkal gam-shneichem yom-echad.

 

 

45. "until your brother's rage toward you has calmed down and he has forgotten what you have done to him. I will then send a messenger to you and summon you from there. Why should I lose you both on the same day?"

 

 

מו וַתֹּאמֶר רִבְקָה אֶל-יִצְחָק קַצְתִּי בְחַיַּי מִפְּנֵי בְּנוֹת חֵת אִם-לֹקֵחַ יַעֲקֹב אִשָּׁה מִבְּנוֹת-חֵת כָּאֵלֶּה מִבְּנוֹת הָאָרֶץ--לָמָּה לִּי חַיִּים

 

 

Vatomer Rivkah el-Yitzchak katzti vechayai mipenei benot Chet im-lokeach Ya'akov ishah mibnot Chet ka'eleh mibenot ha'aretz lamah li chayim.

 

 

46. Rivkah said to Yitzchak, "I am disgusted wth life because of the daughters of Chet. If Yaakov takes a wife of the daughters of Chet, such as these, of the daughters of the land, why should I go on living?"
